　　報(bào)告題目：Monotonicity of the Period Function of Second-Order Autonomous ODE

　　報(bào)告摘要：It is well-known that all solutions of the initial value problem

　　y”(t) + f(y) = 0; y(0) =alpha, y’(0) = 0

　　are periodic. The period T(alpha) (time for y(t) to complete one oscillation) is a function of the initial amplitude alpha. We are interested in finding conditions on the nonlinear function f(y) such that T(alpha) is a monotonic function of alpha, namely, that a larger amplitude alpha leads to a longer (or shorter) period T(alpha). A special situation is when T(alpha) is a constant, for any given alpha. The equation isthen said to be isochronous. Known and new results are surveyed.

　　報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介：鄺文錦教授1968年獲得香港大學(xué)學(xué)士學(xué)位,1970年芝加哥大學(xué)碩士學(xué)位，1973年獲得芝加哥大學(xué)博士學(xué)位。他曾在香港理工大學(xué)、北伊利諾伊大學(xué)和香港浸會(huì)大學(xué)任教，自2008年以來(lái)，在香港理工大學(xué)擔(dān)任客座教授。他的研究興趣包括偏微和常微分方程的適定性、泛函分析、不等式、線(xiàn)性代數(shù)和符號(hào)計(jì)算。截止到目前，在國(guó)外重要刊物上發(fā)表論文150多篇，并被授予ISI高引用學(xué)者稱(chēng)號(hào)。

　　報(bào)告題目：Riemann-Hilbert Approach to Asymptotic of Polynomials and Random Matrices

　　報(bào)告摘要：In this talk, we first show the connections among the Riemann-Hilbert problem,

　　orthogonal polynomials and random matrices. Then we show how to use Riemann

　　-Hilbert approach to analyze asympototic of orthogonal polynomials and random

　　matrices.

　　報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介：范恩貴教授的研究方向是：數(shù)學(xué)物理、Riemann-Hilbert方法、正交多項(xiàng)式和隨機(jī)矩陣。近年來(lái)，連續(xù)二屆為國(guó)家973課題成員;主持國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金、上海曙光計(jì)劃及跟蹤課題等多項(xiàng)課題。應(yīng)邀訪(fǎng)問(wèn)美國(guó)密蘇里大學(xué)、密西根州立大學(xué)、德克薩斯大學(xué)、波蘭華沙大學(xué)、香港大學(xué)、香港城市大學(xué)、日本京都大學(xué)等。在國(guó)外重要刊物上發(fā)表論文100余篇, 所發(fā)表論文他引3000余次。2002年，獲上海市曙光學(xué)者稱(chēng)號(hào);2007年，獲上海市自然科學(xué)二等獎(jiǎng); 2008年，獲國(guó)際湯姆森路透卓越研究獎(jiǎng)、上海市曙光跟蹤學(xué)者稱(chēng)號(hào);2016年獲教育部自然科學(xué)二等獎(jiǎng);2017年獲谷超豪數(shù)學(xué)獎(jiǎng)。
